In Spring of 2006, Kate McGrady opened what she refers to as her “happy place” —Koolkat Designs. Koolkat Designs was an art boutique featuring locally made and hand-crafted jewelry, accessories, and art. Koolkat represented over 200 local artists giving them a unique opportunity to show their work year round. Koolkat provided the Greater Pittsburgh community the chance to Buy Local! and support the incredible talent that exists here not only at its former Uptown location but also at the Three River Arts Festival. Koolkat offered custom design and repairs.
After 9 wonderful years, Koolkat Designs closed its Uptown location to relocate so it could expand its product offering and scope. The business is changing its name to The Artsmiths of Pittsburgh. Opening on Monday, August 24th, The Artsmiths is an arts and cultural center featuring local art, music, and food in the South Hills.
